Self-publishing poem

Fortune Cookies
By: Mia Zhang

When i was small
A fortune cookie was a trick
A trick made by my father's quick hands
I wondered the piece of paper inside the cookie
But not the meaning of the line
Why? Because it tastes good

When i grow up
The taste did not change
But the meaning of the line changed
Does the cookie know? No
Do i believe in! Yes

Other than the line
I start wondering about the number
Sitting quietly on the back of the piece of paper
I think they are different kinds of fortune

Once upon a time
A seventy-five years old lady
Cracked open a random fortune cookie
She opened the cookie
The fortune slipped to her palm
She entered the number for lottery
Guess what? She got a million fortunes

Your Hair

Your hair sometimes smells like a rose garden with blooming roses
Like a candy store
With sweet lolipop
A bakery
With freshly baked cookies
A mixture of different perfumes
Like Early morning grass
A cup of water
An expired oil
A feral cat
With stinky fur
Like a burning hay on the field
Like an over baked cake
With strawberry topping
Like a pot of herbs
In a traditional Chinese way
A cup of coffee
With no sugar
A few drops of concentrated valilna
In a well beaten egg white
Your hair sometimes feel like a bunch of dry hay
A bunch of fluff
From a new born sheep
A piece of silk
With small joints
A baby's hair
Your hair sometimes looks like a nest
With some obvious weeds
Like a dark brown mushroom
An uneven fence
With black paint
Waves of ocean
Willows in the park
Like a warm winter hat
That protects your ears in the harsh winter

Unchanged Everything

(Poetry Reflection on "The Red Wheelbarrow" by William Carlos William)

So much depends upon

An unchanged love

With a wounded heart

Suffering in the beautiful memory

Hawaii Journal

Hawaii is the most beautiful place i have ever been before. The coulor of the sea and sky; The dry and warm wind.

The first thing pops in your head when you hear HAWII is ocean and beach. I suggest you go to the hotel beach which is much more clean than the wild one. If you want to find sea creatures, then go to the wild one.

Hawaii is also a great place for shopping. Living in the pink hotel surrounded by all the famous brands. Also, it is nice to have a walk in the evening.0

JAPAN(2)

I saw many interesting things in Japan, i wish we could have those things in Vancouver.

The first thig is
This is a traditional hotel with hot spring. The layout is tatami. Usually, there is no bed in tatami. People sleep on a thick quilt on the ground.

This is just an ordinary vanding machine. However, during the winter time, you can always find vending machines that sell hot drinks, such red bean soup, hot miso soup, etc. It is a great idea, because it would be nice to have a hot drink during cold winter.

Disneyland is the last thing i want to introduce. I have been to all the Disneyland. In my opoion, Diseyland of Japan is the best one. It has two seperate themes park, Ocean World and Disney Park. I was lucky becuase there was a special festival called SummerFair, which only happens once a year during summer. I bought many Japanese food, such as mochi and apple candy.

Poetic response to "The Metaphor" by Budge Wilson

Spring Breeze
A Poetic response to "The Metaphor" by Budge Wilson

I was a lonely girl
Living in the darkness
Isolated by the metal white gate
Dreaming about lark

You were the godmother in fairytale
Warm and gentle
Waving the magic wand
Blew away the dark haze
And brought light and stars

After a long time, one year, two years
You lost your smile
Since when you began to sigh
Since when i lost my fairy godmother
Yes, i noticed
Yes, i did not do anything

Too late
You vanished as dust
Who is the killer
I am
by ignoring those ridicules
I miss you godmother,
I miss your gentle

Poetic Response to "the sound of hollyhocks"

The Woeful Life

A poetic response to "The sound of the Hollyhocks" by H.Garner

Wealth
Representation of satifaction?
No
Emptiness insteand.

My lover
Rejected and detested
By the "Bitch of Belson"
Leave and escape
With a married man
But punished with death

Oh! How lamentable my life is!
Should I leave?
Crimson flowers burst in to bloom on my wrist
Dropping on the ground.
Charming yet bleak
